Collections Management for Universities, Colleges, and Conservatories (CMUCC)

Founded at the 2017 AMIS annual meeting, the working group for Collections Management for Universities, Colleges, and Conservatories (CMUCC) aims to establish dialogue and collaboration among the many institutions of higher education with collections of musical instruments. While a small number of universities, colleges and music conservatories around the world support professionally staffed musical instrument museums, a much larger number find themselves in possession of valuable collections of musical instruments acquired by donation and/or purchase over the decades, yet without the physical facilities, expertise, financing, or administration necessary to care for them. Often the oversight of such instruments falls to a faculty or staff member with little appropriate training.

It is the goal of this working group to provide a forum for discussion, sharing of information on best practices, conversations about individual experiences, and networking opportunities.
